In the Subject Teacher program, we train students for the profession and task of teaching, in two arbitrarily selected subjects from the following set: biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, or computer science. Students acquire knowledge, skills and sharpen attitudes towards imparting knowledge to learners while developing the competencies of a modern, innovative and professionally qualified teacher.

Above all, to be a successful and quality teacher, one needs a successful, confident and quality teacher. Based on this, our aim is to train the students for successful and independent pedagogical work and at the same time direct them towards the research path in the pedagogical profession so that they are recognized in the regional, national and international space. On the way to becoming a successful teacher, we empower students to teach subjects in a modern and innovative way. Due to the rapid evolution of society, we show students to be flexible and accepting of new and different approaches to teaching, and most importantly, to listen to the needs of those for whom the teaching is intended. One of the goals is also for students to enter the classroom in five years to get a job in the education system, as there is already a shortage of science teachers in Slovenia.

Our vision is to be and remain the leading centre in Slovenia for training teachers of biology and chemistry, the third triad of primary and secondary schools.
